Sligo Fishing Trips
The West coast of Ireland is recognised as one of the best sea fishing spots in the world. The diverse nature of Sligo’s coastline and it’s position on the edge of Europe where it’s waters are warmed by the North Atlantic Drift means that marine life here is extremely rich and varied. Your host Stephen is an experienced lobster fisherman and will be happy to advise you on the best fishing spots.
Offshore Fishing
Depending on the ground or reef fished and the season, some of the 30+ species you can fish for off the Sligo coast include: Coalfish, Cod, Conger, Dab, Flounder, Herring, John-Dory, Mackerel, Monkfish, Mullet, Pollock, Whiting, Ling, Bream and even some Large Skate. Great sport can be enjoyed on warm days of late summer when using light spinning tackle for mackerel or pollack.
Offshore Sea Fishing Trips on the M.V. Kiwi Girl are a great day out for both novices and experts alike. We welcome individuals, families and groups including; hens & stags. Offshore Watersports in Mullaghmore offer fishing trips from April to October:
- 2 hour evening trips from Mullaghmore harbour at 5pm are €25 Adult / €15 Child (including rod and tackle).
- Full Day Trips vary in price from €50 upwards.
Angling available on M.V. Sea Star includes general deep sea, reef and sand angling and blue shark fishing between the months of August and October. Rods and tackle are available for hire and we welcome beginners! ~ Sligo Boat Charters
Sligo Boat Charters in Rosses Point offer fishing trips from August to October:
- 3 hour evening trip: Adults @ €20pp, Kids @ €15pp, rod and tackle hire €5 for each one required.

Sea Shore Fishing
For an easy win, head to a sandy beach to seek out dogfish or a rocky outcrop to target pollock. For more experienced anglers, the wild beaches of the Sligo offer a challenge. Wade in to a safe and shallow depth to find ray and flounder among the crashing waves and if you’re really lucky you might land a John Dory, a rare but satisfying catch.

There are numerous sightseeing boat trips that you can take in Sligo, From a boat tour around Lough Gill to view the “Lake Isle of Innisfree” a beautiful place that inspired W B Yeats to write his most famous poem, to a visit to one of the world’s earliest monastic sites at Inishmurray Island which lies 7km off the Sligo coastline.
