Lough Talt is a picturesque lake of about 200 acres situated at the foothills of the Ox Mountains in South Sligo just under an hours drive from Mount Edward Lodge. The lake is perfect for walking, fishing and stand up paddle boarding. Visit Wild Wet Adventures for more information.
Enniscrone – Walking, Watersports & Horse Riding
With its 5km stretch of sandy beach Enniscrone is the perfect place to go walking, swimming, surfing or horse riding. You can also enjoy a Seaweed Bath in the famous bath house at the end of the pier. Visit Discover Enniscrone for more information.
Easkey – Surfing
Internationally the village of Easkey is one of the best known surfing areas in Ireland. What makes Easkey special? It has two reef breaks, the left just by the river mouth, and the right to the east of the castle. The waves in Easkey break over rocks rather than on sand. This makes the waves more attractive to surfers because they are hollowed and faster than beach breaks. The surfing area in Easkey faces in such a way that the prevailing winds, which are south-westerly, are offshore. Visit The Irish Surfing Association for more information.
Aughris/Dunmoran – Walking & Surfing
Dunmoran Strand has a Green Coast Award and is the ideal spot for surfing and walking. For surfing there is a sheltered beach break that has quite reliable surf and can work at any time of the year. Ideal winds are from the south. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the best swell direction is from the northwest. The beach break provides left and right handers. Good surf at all stages of the tide. Dunmoran strand is also a beautiful place to go walking. Visit Sligo Walks for more information.
