Barnacle Geese
Ocean Heights is located in one of the best mainland areas for Sligo bird watching. Wintering Barnacle Geese are most regularly seen from October to April each year at Lissadell, Raghly and Cloonagh.
The Barnacle Geese roost most nights on Inishmurray Island and dramatic dusk and dawn flights, to and from the island, can be seen from Ocean Heights.

Other species that can been seen from Ocean Heights during Autumn and Winter include:
Whooper Swan, Pink footed Goose, Brent Goose, Canada Goose, Eider Long Tailed Duck, Common Scoter, Red Breasted Merganser, Red Throated Diver, Great Northern Diver, Hen Harrier, Merlin, Peregrine, Little Stint, Curlew Sand Piper, Purple Sand Piper, Dunlin, Arctic Skua, Auks, Leach’s Petrel, Grey Phalarop, Pomarine and Storm Petrel.
